Overseas warehouses are situated in the target sales countries, such as the United States, Germany, or Japan. The goods stored in these warehouses have already undergone export customs clearance and have paid the necessary import duties in the destination country. Once a consumer places an order, products are shipped directly from the overseas warehouse, ensuring rapid delivery and an exceptional logistics experience. This model also facilitates localized after-sales services, including returns and exchanges, making it ideal for popular, fast-moving products with stable and predictable sales.”
保税仓则设于中国境内的海关特殊监管区域(如保税区、综合保税区)。货物尚未完成进口清关,处于“保税”状态,暂不缴纳关税和进口增值税。消费者下单后,货物才进行清关并出区配送。这种方式有助于减轻商家的资金压力,降低囤货风险,尤其适用于试销新品、长尾商品(即销量不高、需求分散但种类繁多的商品集合),以及商品价值较高、批量出口关税成本压力大的情况。
Bonded warehouses, on the other hand, are situated within customs special supervision areas in China, such as bonded zones or comprehensive bonded zones. Goods stored in these facilities have not yet undergone import customs clearance and remain ‘bonded’, allowing tariffs and import value-added taxes to be deferred. Only after a consumer places an order are the goods cleared through customs and shipped out of the zone. This approach reduces the financial burden on merchants and lowers inventory risks. It is particularly suitable for testing new products, managing long-tail goods (i.e., products with low sales volumes and scattered demand but a wide variety of SKUs), as well as for high-value items or circumstances where bulk export tariffs would create significant cost pressures.”
